Founders

What follows will convey some of the reasons that persuaded the founders of the company to commit themselves to this enterprise.

Paolo MusumeciPaolo Musumeci (Chairman of the board of directors):
All of us having realised the drawing to a close of an epoch which forces humanity to abandon non renewable energy sources, fossil fuels and nuclear, intend to contribute to the advancement of the society in this direction, making less traumatic a phase that could involve many human lives, by introducing non marginal renewable sources such as high altitude winds like KiteGen. This ideal is an essential part of the humanitarian spirit that belongs to the origin of WOW, a company of financial and energetic innovation with the important target of crossing over the last frontier of humanity: the end of the fire age.

Simone ToselliSimone Toselli (Businessman, Board member):
I took part in the foundation of WOW because I consider it fair and necessary to fund new technologies related to the usage of renewable sources. In addition, the KiteGen project offers an original solution to extract considerable quantities of energy from the wind at reduced costs.

Carlo PerassiCarlo Perassi (Consultant, Board member):
I have found many reasons to support the KiteGen project: ethical, financial, political and technical. It has been a while since I started looking for something outside my typical activity of computer engineering for which it would be worth committing myself to.

Francesco Muscio Francesco Muscio, Ph.D. (Chemist):
Perhaps ethical finance is the most powerful tool people have to make the planet a better place. Aware of that and of the forthcoming energy crisis humanity is going to encounter, I carried out extensive research to identify which technology has the best balance between profitability and environmental impact. I discovered with great surprise and joy that a compromise is not necessary. Among technologies to produce energy, KiteGen probably is the one with, at the same time, the highest economic profitability and the lowest environmental impact.

Mario MarchittiMario Marchitti (Aeronautical technician, Board member):
There is already an immediate moral gain investing in a project directed to the replacement of fossil fuels. There is an immediate gain if we help the designers and researchers we esteem.

Daniele CarceaDaniele Carcea (Accountant):
I founded WOW because I believe in KiteGen and in its potentiality, expecially with reference to the fair distribution of energy resources that it can allow.

Marco BussoMarco Busso (Craftsman, Board member):
After having exhaustively studied the KiteGen technology, I realized that, most probably, it’s the only one that lets us use a renewable source to produce non marginal quantities of electrical energy. With luck and perseverance, I shared with other people the need to support this project.

Luca PardiLuca Pardi (Researcher):
At the end of the summer of 2003, I was passing through the Chemistry Department of the University of Florence when, almost by chance, I attended a seminar held by Colin Campbell about Peak Oil, organized by Prof. Ugo Bardi. A kick in the stomach. Before entering that lecture-hall, I was an ambitious CNR researcher, convinced of the magnificent destiny of our society, which is based upon research and innovation, free trade and democracy. Going out, I started to became what I am now: one of the people of the minority group that (forgive me for seeming presumptuos) is able to see the subject of energy in a global context that includes the socio-economic human metabolism in an ecological and thermodynamic context, locally and globally appropriate. The same day, with Ugo Bardi, we founded the Italian section of the Association for the Study of Peak Oil and a few weeks later I began a lengthy path of political and educative commitment in order to try to make as many people as possible aware of the bottle-neck oil problem. If anybody has the opportunity to spend a lunchtime together with him they will receive the impression of a gentle visionary person with a very lively intelligence. Apart from this, it then became immediately clear to me that the KiteGen project would be the only means of producing renewable energy that could rapidly enter into competition with traditional liquid fuel and nuclear plants, both for the quantity of energy produced and for the costs. Therefore I resolved to participate in the foundation of WOW to help in the success of this project from which the wellbeing, and perhaps the life, of our children and grandchildren may depend, nothing less and nothing more.

Gaetano DentamaroGaetano Dentamaro (Free lance journalist, Board member):
Meeting Massimo Ippolito and his team of researchers working for the creation of KiteGen was a thrilling experience! The discovery of a energy deposit, formed by the high altitude winds, opens up completely new perspectives for human advancement. It is an enterprise one cannot renounce and I am proud to give my contribution to the realization of this project.
